Ultrastructure of vascular and connective tissue changes in primary syphilis.
Electron microscopical studies of primary syphilitic lesions showed intensive changes in the capillaries in the form of endothelial proliferation and extensive infilitration of different cells in the surrounding connective tissue. The degenerative changes in axon terminals could explain the painless course of primary induration.
متن کاملInterferometric fluorescent super-resolution microscopy resolves 3D cellular ultrastructure.
Understanding molecular-scale architecture of cells requires determination of 3D locations of specific proteins with accuracy matching their nanometer-length scale. Existing electron and light microscopy techniques are limited either in molecular specificity or resolution. Here, we introduce interferometric photoactivated localization microscopy (iPALM), the combination of photoactivated locali...
متن کاملX-Ray Phase Nanotomography Resolves the 3D Human Bone Ultrastructure
Bone strength and failure are increasingly thought to be due to ultrastructural properties, such as the morphology of the lacuno-canalicular network, the collagen fiber orientation and the mineralization on the nanoscale. However, these properties have not been studied in 3D so far. Here we report the investigation of the human bone ultrastructure with X-ray phase nanotomography, which now prov...
متن کاملThe Ultrastructure of the White Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue
In order to know the ultrastructural particularities of the adipose tissues, especially when very accurate in situ location of some molecules of interest (mRNA, proteins) must be identified in their associations with specific infrastructures during adipogenesis correlated with the fat type body location, the electron microscopic investigation is the best way to get it. We analysed the subcutane...
متن کاملUltrastructure and functional versatility of hirudinean botryoidal tissue.
In leeches, the botryoidal tissue is composed of two different cell types--granular botryoidal cells and flattened endothelial-like cells--localized in the loose connective tissue between the gut and the body wall sac. We have observed that the botryoidal tissue undergoes functional and structural modifications in response to the different needs arising during the life-cycle of the animal. In h...
